B5 got me hooked on costuming, so it holds a special place in my heart. I made a ranger costume years ago, and later on an army of light uniform. I decided last year that I wanted to re-make both of them. I'm starting with a ranger again, though this time it will be ranger one, with the orangy-brown robe over the top. I found some nice fabric at Spotlight, but I'm not sure how well it will turn out. I'll give it a try though smile.gif

I have the ranger pin already, but I want to try my hand at sculpting the belt buckle. I don't have any pictures on me at the moment, but I will see if I can find any tonight to put online. All the ones I have are small and blurry though sad.gif If anyone has any advice on how to sculpt it, I would appreciate it. It's all new to me!

While I'm on the subject of B5 costumes, have any of you made them? How did you go about finding materials for the various pieces?

This is what I've made so far, but I've always wanted to make some more of them:

I've been thinking of doing an earthforce uniform.I've got a little brown kid leather that'd do well for the collar and chest patch and a couple of B5 patches I got at a con a few years ago....oh and a PPG,so that just leaves everything else to make tongue.gif

A few years ago I was also thinking of doing a Kosh encounter suit, might resurrect those plans if I ever get free time.I have more experience at sculpting now and I still have the bases for some parts that I made(the basic horse collar and 1 wing cover)

I have some patches too, I forgot to mention! I've always wanted to make the earthforce uniform too, but it looks very fiddly, and I want to do the others first. lol

You have a PPG? Neat! Did you make it or buy it?

That would be so cool if you made an encounter suit! but I know what you mean about free time. lol Not sure any of us will ever get that again.

The PPG was a resin kit so I bought AND made it tongue.gif It's not brilliant but it's Ok,removable energy cap but not really screen accurate in the barrel and grip areas.

but I should get back to wasting my free time,I mean "using" my free time biggrin.gif

I made a Pyscore badge made for me in gold and silver a few years ago for a costume, but that is the only bab5 costume I've ever done.

But i do want to make a Bab5 uni from after they split from earth.

Army of Light is the name you are looking for, and it's an awesome uniform. I want to re-make mine. Its a very comfy costume! smile.gif

I'm sure I saw it somewhere, though I don't remember where...

I used that textured ribbon you can get, and sewed it on with a zig zag stitch. I was fairly happy with how it turned out.

Absolutely, no problem. But I am a bit stuck for time at the moment, so I might be a little slow to reply sometimes. lol

I used a pattern template for a top that I have that has a round neckline and a collar. I extended the front piece to overlap at the front. It wasn't too difficult. It was my third costume ever, and I didnt' find it too difficult. In fact, I think I made it the days leading up to the convention. lol

I dont mind you taking you time to reply, i know you're a busy person.

I always thought the basis of the uniform was fairly easy. I just think that I found it daunting due to the differant materials invovled in it. Like that trim I asked you about.

I know you bought your patches, but did you buy or make the rank insignia? And just out of curiosity, what rank did you use?

The rank insignia was made by my boyfriend at the time. It was aluminium, finished off and painted. They were kinda crappy. lol You can get nicer ones on ebay now... yay ebay!!!!

I don't remember what rank I used.

I'm thinking of making a Delenn from Babylon 5 costume. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the head bone?
