Hey guys,

I got a freshly re-built computer. So i can surf the forums. YAY

But back on topic.

I was looking for advice for building prop guns. Pistols are easy cause you can buy them it's more the fictional ones that I am having trouble figuring out.

More to the point this one:

If it was me I'd make the stock and pistol grip area from MDF,laminating pieces together to get the desired thicknesses for the different parts. The front I'd probably build up like a box, making a few Y shaped ribs and cladding them with thinner MDF.There's a lot of repeated detail on the front end so I'd just make one of each, make some silicone moulds and cast as many repeats as needed.

Smoothing can be done with car body filler or even plaster or papier mache tied together with a layer of varnish or fibreglass resin.

If you make the bigger parts in left and right halves screwed together you can lighten the wood by removing some of the material inside with a router or even just a drill.
