Hi
Just wondering who plans to make one of the characters costumes for the next narnia movie? I want to make susans battle costume, but dont want to sit in chain maille all night, is there any ideas what else I could use to get the look?
Otherwise i will probably make the purple dress, but I will hate to find the right colour. Thanks

I know people have had success with painting knitted fabric to get the right textured look. It would need to be a chunky knit though, and if you're painting it, you'll need to be careful it doesn't become too stiff.

I adore all of Susan's costumes so I cna't wait to see what you come up with biggrin.gif

It depends how much you want it to "look" the part. What did they actually use in the movie? I know that the "knitted" stuff can look really terrible in some movies so I wonder what it actually looks like in real life. Whereas weta workshops maille made from rubber links looked quite good. For only two hours I don't think real maille would be that uncomfortable. Heavy yes, but not uncomfortable. More like wearing a heavy shirt.

Hi,
Sorry Im new to this, what are these rubber links you talk of. Where can I get them, etc? Also does anyone have a picture of fabric they have painted to give the look? Thanks for your help.

The Rubber Links are basicly what Weta Workshop used for the chain mail from Lord of the Rings.
They use it now for most Fantasy movies that involve chainmail...

A new costume pic was added to the site, narniaweb.com awhile back and because you can only see the top half of it, it has sparked up alot of interest.

http://www.narniaweb.com/forum/forum_posts...=18346&PN=1

The 7th post has the pic; drawn. but as you go through the topic, you see the pic, and near the end are some concepts I did from what was thought the bottom half would look like...have a look see and tell us what you think.

Also, any one who is interested, I am setting up a Hawkes Bay Lion Party...kinda like a Line Party, but for Aslan! lol.
Prince Caspian is released in NZ on the 19th of May and Christchurch and now Hawkes Bay are both having Line Parties!

Some details are still to be sorted out, but more information should be posted in the next few days, and also PM me if any of you who can make it are interested!
