Greeting all knowledgable-type people,
I've been wanting to do Auron for a while, in fact I've done other projects simply in order to learn the skills I'll need in order to do it right. But, I still fall short, so I'm asking for help.

I really, really want to do this because my BF (or SO, same dif) looks very similar to Auron: same height, build, eye colour and similar features. Plus give him a few more months at the gym and he'll have those delicious arm muscles (squee!) and washboard stomach. In short, the love of my life has the potential to be The Best Auron Ever. So it would be cool if you could offer any advice that aids such an outcome.

For those who don't know Auron:

*swoon* Isn't he dreamy? wink.gif

You may notice that this is a complicated design. Many textures of cloth, leather, armour, trinkets, straps, buckles, trims, metal doodads, accessories and a pair of sunnies and a scar to boot. -.-:

I have found it difficult over the years to find such unusual accessories, so I wish to make them. Out of Friendly Plastic. Anyone know where to buy that in Australia?

Also, if anyone has had experience in the realms of working with leather or metal, please let know know any tips and tricks for getting the raw mats to end up looking like the smoothly finished pieces in the picture above. Especially the black leather vest. Being a non-stretch material, I'm going to have to come up with some sort of interesting garment closure that won't stand out, and I have no idea how to shape it and emboss it with gold either. sad.gif

As for advice about anything else in the costume, I'm all ears. Those that know me know my costuming strengths are finding brightly coloured things and modifying stuff to suit a design. Almost everything else is beyond my experience except reading a dress-making pattern.

(I've already found Level4Chaos' leet Bucket technique for making the bracer thingy on his right wrist biggrin.gif, so if I've simply missed a relevant topic, a linky would be nice.)

PS: check out the FMV 'The Legend Lives' for Auron in action.

(Please ignore the unnatural lack of armpit hair)

Yaoi lovers may also note that I wish to crossplay Tidus contemporaneously with my BF's Auron. I like dressing up as guys, it's deeply enjoyable and generally comfortable, chest-strapping not withstanding. I say yaoi-lovers will find it notable because I love my BF and hug and kiss him frequently. He's wonderful, you'd kiss him too if you were me.

Ciao! and thanks in advance. smile.gif

A quick google found friendly plastic at Jaycar and there's a place in NSW that has it.

Leather and saddlery suppliers are usually good for buckles and doodads so a little yellow pages work to try and find one near you is usually worth the effort.

Zomg, it's also called Polymorph, what were your search terms?
Man, my google-fu sucks sometimes. I guess I'll have to hope that my phone-fu is better.

As for leather:

Is close enough to me biggrin.gif I'm going to go to their showroom and check out their kangaroo hides.
