Hi Everyone

I purchased pr of dyeable shoes, they are currently white satin. I want to match them to a dress im making. I was going to dye the, as i want them gold to match my dress im making (see link). I have searched spotlight and found a few alternatives. Setacolor silk paint, but it says it has to be heat set.So im not sure about heat setting the colour on shoes.

Second option is to paint them using paints with a textile medium in the paint. I did try this on a sample of taffeta the other day but the fabric went a little stiff, almost like nylon umbrella fabric.

Other option would be to cover them, but i want them to look preofessional. There doesnt seem to be many places that cover shoes any more.

Does anyone else have other ideas or alternatives, or even experience with colouring shoes.

Could you heat-set them with a hairdryer? Or your local bridal shops may ahve an idea of where you can get shoes prefessionally dyed.

There are many things that I could be proud of
If only I'd invented them, such as the wheel
The washing machine and the tumble dryer
On these inventions surely I could retire

Maggie from Padawan's Guide dyed her dyable shoes for her Liea Bespin costume. You could have a read of what she did. I believe she sent a swatch to one of the company's and they(perfectly) made a recipe for her to use a particular product.
