Just to get some discussion going....

What's your favourite fantasy costume? Is it from a movie, a tv show? Or your own design? Is it something you've already made, or is it something you would love to make?

I don't think I have any particular favourites, but I love all the costumes from Lord of the Rings, especially the armour. It's amazing smile.gif It just screams out 'make me'! lol

I dont think i really have anything that i love about fantasy.....well alright.....I love mermaids (if that what you would call fantasy LOL) but i do like the costumes for the elves in LOTR's they are very delicate and flowing and i love all that girly girly stuff. But i wouldnt make anything like that at the moment....it would be like putting a bowling bag in a marble bag...... laugh.gif

I think at the moment, I'm most partial to the Elves costumes in Lord of the Rings.

I love the Lord of the Rings Costume and I have wanted to make Arwen's Blood Red Dress for the past 3 years.
I have a few concepts I designed from books, like David Eddings and Tad Williams...

Welcome Cora! It’s nice to meet you smile.gif Do you sketch your designs, or go straight to making them? I’d love to see what you’ve done.

I sketch them first to get the look and feel right, I have folders full of sketches, not having the time to make them all.

Don't know if it's my favourite exactly, but I'd love an Underworld vampire coat cool.gif

Eek! Me too! I have sketched a very brief design for Polgara from the Belgariad. I'll get around to making it one day. Would be interesting to see how different the designs are. biggrin.gif

My favourite fantasy costume is probably anything faerie... though the LOTR and Narnia stuff does come close. biggrin.gif

Sigh.. the White Witch's felted gowns... Eowyn's white wool...

I have a very big thing for self textures and textures created by use of a "single" colour. Shades of very very very pale pastels to make up a white dress on stage for instance. So these gowns really appeal to that side of me.

I guess it would have to be gowns from The Princess Bride. Ive always liked this movie and if i had the bod, id have em all made, from the blue with brown gown on the farm to the silver blue wedding gown.

Wouldn't mind a bit of Cary Ewles either... tongue.gif

I'll second that! I've seen a few people have been making Buttercup's red riding dress lately.
Hmm, favourite fantasty costumes - anything Eowyn wears... the wide necklines of the elvish gowns don't really appeal to me so muh, but the Rohan costumes are somehow very real.

I'm definately partial to LotR costumes! I most definately prefer Eowyn's costumes, and I have plans to make a few of those, they're beautiful, but also seem a lot more practical than the Elven Garb. However, I have bought the material to make an Arwen chase coat (to go with my Hadhafang I bought recently), it's one of may favourite of her costumes. I also wouldn't mind making Arwen's mourning gown, it has elements of human design in it, which I think is why I love it so much!

Other than that, I've watched so much fantasy, I wouldn't know where to begin! One costume I do love, which may not be well known, is Snow White's costume from Snow White: Fairest of them all. SW is played by Kristin Kruek (from smallville) and she wears the most beautiful costumes!

Yep it's a live action movie. You'd probably find it in a dvd store hidden away. I really enjoyed it the first time I saw it on tv, and loved the costumes and knew I had to buy it. Snow white's costumes are devine, but I also love the dress her mother wears. If you can ever hire it out or get a chance to see it, I recommend it!

Oooh yes - I loved Queens Elspeth's stuff (not that orange is a favourite colour or anything)
From memory all her costumes were some varient of orange and black, too

Hmm. What excuse could we have to make Snow White costumes....
