G'day all,

I just wanted to share with you my latest costume.

Front & Back

It was for an online contest entitled the "Ogham" - which is the ancient celtic druid alphabet. I chose one of the letters of the alphabet and ran with it. The letter is a line down the middle with five horizontal lines over the top of it. This created my "skeleton". Then I added the patchwork - all types of green as I was working with the colours of the tree that the letter relates to, the Yew Tree.

Don't know if any of this makes sense, but I am happy with the outcome. I think it looks Fae/Fairy/ Wood Nymph - like.

I used all recycled material (meaning that I used material that was left overs from other projects; my own and other people's) which I really liked. I used a total of I believe 14 different materials, plus some beads.
The dress took me about 60+ hours over two months as it was completely hand sewn.

A little extreme I know but I am so proud of it because of the fact that I didn't use a pattern. I drew up the design and started to make it. And the end product looked near exactly how I envisioned it.

Hope you like it smile.gif

Looks very faery like. and now that you've explained what inspired the costume, it does make sense.

Great job!! tongue.gif

well done! It looks great, and knowing the concepts helps understand your choices & nudges me towards designing a costume for a character I love from a book.

Thanks guys for all the positive feedback. It is strange to think that a tree inspired this LOL Well a tree and an ancient meaning.
