I've seen a lot of impressive costumes recently, but I don't think I've seen one so interactive with the wearer. This Costume, Breakdown from Transformers, actually Transforms like the cartoons. The robot transforms into a car and back again with the wearer in the costume at all times.

I think this is something that truly needs to be seen to be believed. I have found a full scan of the magazine article, but I am not sure which magazine it is.

The costumer is 29 year old Akihide Fukui from California. He created the costume with a range of materials from cardboard to aluminium bars over a year.

Link to the article at tangmonkey.com (november 2001)

Edit @ 2.20pm: I just found this article over on AVCon forums as well and found out the magazine is called "Wizard"

Wow! That is soooo impressive. I love the pic's of him 'transforming' - he's still the character all through the process.
That's what I call impressive costuming too.
