Anzac Long Weekend, at the Lithgow Showgrounds
10am-5pm Sat & Sun, 10am-4pm Mon
http://www.ironfest.com.au/
"Ironfest is an arts festival with a metal edge, featuring art exhibitions, stalls, live music, dance, street performance, historical re-enactments, blacksmithing demonstrations, workshops, busking competitions, automotive displays, educational, historical and technological displays and lots more."
We have been contacted by the organisers of this event to see if we'd like to be more involved. Unfortunately this festival is very close to some others that some members have already committed to (Easter events for the Medievalists, BrisNova and Jane Austen Festival immediately before it and a Medieval Fair in SA after it). So if there are any members who think they might be interested in attending (as an ACG presence) please let me know by posting here or by PM. They have a number of Medieval and Colonial groups attend in costume already but it might also be a good place to try out your Steampunk costume!

I'd be happy to go along in costume. I've been the last two years and its lots of fun....
Just a tip...rug up! The last one was during very cold weather.

I've just checked & it's 3 hours to Lithgow on the train ... better than I was expecting. I need to check out accommodation cos I'd love to take my steampunk for an outing.

I'd never been to Lithgow before, & have travelled more in Australia for costuming than for other holidays :-)
I took lots of pics, though I haven't seen any yet - dropped my camera the first day at JAFA and the screen doesn't properly now.

The back of this year's program had the dates for next year ... not Anzac weekend but May 14 & 15, and it's entitled Steampunk. Yayyy.

I had a great time with Wendy, some photos will be in my blog.
We spent our Saturday and Sunday wandering around and seeing the sights and costumes, caught up with friends and made some new ones. I bought some excellent leather gloves for my next year's Iron Fest costume - featuring 1900's motoring coat.
Later on Sunday we also visited Eskbank House of Victorian Era for a photo op in our Regency clothes. Those photos will be on my blog soon.
Cant wait till next year.

I wonder why the date change.
Because next year, Anzac is straight after Easter and they'd lose all their medievalists as they go to their respective groups events over Easter
(I'm still wondering how I've managed to commit myself for Discworld III, Jane Austen and Suth Moot on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weekend respectively in April next year)

We need to find something for the 1st weekend so it doesn't feel left out ;-)
