Monthly Meet-up*
Tuesday January 5th - 7 Stars Hotel -Angas Street, City. 6pm ish onwards. Thread link.

Papier Mache Workshop*
Saturday January 16th from midday till evening. Steve and Catherine Scholz will demonstrate two different approaches to Papier Mache and how to get the best results. A hands-on workshop at their house. Please bring a plate of food to share. Address details PM via the forum. Thread Link.


February

Fringe Festival Parade*
To help launch the Fringe festival, the ACG has secured a place in the annual Fringe Festival parade which will be held on Friday February 19th from 7pm. So crack out that special costume to demonstrate what the Guild is all about. Check the thread on the forum for the latest details as they arise. Thread Link.

Steampunk Ball ~ The Maiden Flight of the Olympia
Saturday February 27 from 6.45pm.
Presented by Dynamic Creations and supported by The Australian Costumers Guild and the Adelaide University Fringe Club.
Exit the world you know. Enter a fully immersive, interactive 1890s experience. In a Steampunk universe-of-yesteryear become a passenger of the Olympia on its maiden voyage to the moon! Fringe Festival
Fringe Festival transforms the city into a melee of arts, theatre and costumes! Keep your eyes peeled for some special Steampunk activities coming up to tie in with the Fringe Festival!

Medieval tunic making workshop*

Supanova Brisbane
April 9-11 RNA showgrounds. Arguably the most popular con in the country, a heavy contingent of ACGers make the annual pilgrimage!

Laser Skirmish revisited*
Once again grab your fatigues as we return to the hills of Picadilly to shoot our friends. Saturday April 24th, midday till a bit after 1 pm. Thread is here.

Jane Austen festival
The annual Jane Austen festival will be held in Canberra over the weekend 15-19th April where a large contingent of ACG folk congregate to soak up a weekend of Regency period goodness. Several ACG folk will be providing workshops! Thread Link. The actual Festival web page is here.


May
Gumeracha Medieval Fair

1st and 2nd of May at Federation Park Gumeracha. A day of medieval goodness, jousting, combat, cooking, costumes, blacksmithing and other medieval displays. The ACG usually has a display tent so come along in your garb and soak in the dark and middle ages atmosphere.

History Month Events
There will be several events in May focussed on Australian history. Keep a look out for details as they emerge.

Historic Fabric Tour in conjunction with the VSSA.
On Saturday May 8th, Kay takes us on a tour of Adelaide fabric stores to learn what fabrics are suitable for historical costume. Strict places available so watch the forum for further information when it is available.

Tas Sci Fi Science Fiction Convention *This event has been postponed by the organisers until further notice*
At the new location the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart on May 14-16. The Tasmanians show the nation how a Sci-Fi con is held. This year the ACG looks to again have a very popular table with an array of costumes to see. Members will be involved in judging the daily costume competitions. Thread Link. June
Costume Game Night
*
Steve and crew will host an assortment of costume related games and quizzes at Memberships officer Sam's house. Sat June 19th from 6.00pm./ please bring some bits of 'junk' - cardboard, fabric and odds and ends for costume creation. And a plate of food to share, as we'll be firing up the BBQ.

Pressing Matters*
After sewing a beautiful seam, it will never look perfect unless it is pressed correctly. Learn tricks of the trade to make your sewing look professional. A pressing workshop will be held at Mavis Smith's house. June 6th from 12.30pm. Bring a plate to share. Address details will be supplied via PM.


July
The Annual ACG Fundraising Quiz Night!*

It's back and the geeky questions will get your brains ticking. Saturday July 3rd 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. An open theme costumed event. Come as whatever or whoever you like, or perhaps have a table theme! Strictly 10 per table.

Centenary of Adelaide University Sportsgrounds, Grandstand and Boatshed 1900's attire is required for a group to provide centenary ambience to the official proceedings. July 11th 10.00am - 12.00 noon.

Avcon - the premier Anime and Videogame Convention!
Looks to be held on July 24th and 25th at the Adelaide Convention Centre. A weekend of gaming, anime and Japanese culture, one the largest pop-culture kind of conventions held in Adelaide. There is talk that ACG will field a table/stall so watch this space.


August
1890's Research Day*

Kay opens her doors again, for those to inspect original 1890's attire and accessories. Please bring a plate to share, Sunday August 8th.

National Guild Ball*
The 14th National Costumers Guild Ball on Saturday August 28th. The event of the year!


September

By the Power of Greyskull, it's 1980's hero time!* Saturday September 25th from 6.00pm
Come as your favourite 80's hero! Do you have a hidden passion for She-Ra or Rainbow Brite? Maybe Indiana Jones, Princess Leia or MacGyver? Bring an 1980s item if you have one! And a plate of food to share.

Bay to Birdwood Run
The original run is back this year for vehicles built before 1955! September 26th at the National motor Museum in Birdwood. The ACG often has a strong contingent of costumed people to enter in ‘fashions in the field’. Think Edwardian to 1950's era fashion.


October
Adelaide Zombie Walk*

The dead rise again for this worldwide phenomenon! A shambling brains-hunting affair through the streets, starting from Rundle Park. Saturday October 9th.

Armageddon Pop Culture Expo
A contingent of ACGers head over to Melbourne for the other most popular convention in Oz. 16th and 17th of October at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Sci-Fi Actors Sylvester McCoy, Dominic Keating, Jeffrey Combs, Claudia Christian and Nana Visitor, plus Diedrich Bader (Drew Carey Show, Office Space), and Juliet Landau (Buffy) are slated to attend.


November

Monthly meet-up*

This month are trying the Astor Hotel on the corner of Pulteney Street and Gilles Street, on Tuesday November 2nd, from around 6.00pm. Hopefully the horse race festivities will be over by then! Monthly meet-ups are social, non-costume gatherings where we chat about upcoming events, costume creations and pretty much anything we like. If you’re curious about the Guild, the meet-ups are a great opportunity to meet some of the regulars in a friendly relaxed environment. If you have suggestions for future meet-up locations, I’d love to hear them as it’s becoming more and more difficult to find locations that will accommodate our growing numbers.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
Harry Potter returns to the big screen and Billywigs Southern Wizarding Alliance will be celebrating. The ACG will be invited to join in the magic, check the forum thread as you need to organise your own tickets as this is likely to be a sell-out session!

Christmas Pageant Time!
Several of the local councils or shopping centres put on Christmas pageants where some of our costume clubs are invited to attend. Star Wars often appears at Norwood and Salisbury, with Harry Potter at Blackwood. Who knows who will appear this year? SAFF are inviting Star Wars costuming folk to attend the Norwood pageant on November 27 for a 10.00am sharp start. Stay tuned for info regarding the Salisbury and Glenelg pageants.


December
Monthly meet-up*

This month we go back to the 7 Stars Hotel at 187 Angas Street City, on Tuesday December 7th, from around 6.00pm. Monthly meet-ups are social, non-costume gatherings where we chat about upcoming events, costume creations and pretty much anything we like! If you’re curious about the Guild, the meet-ups are a great opportunity to meet some of the regulars in a friendly relaxed environment. Christmas Party*
Not much happens in December except the Christmas Party! Saturday December 11th at Calixta’s family’s house in Modbury. Special thanks for the donation of the abode for that evening. People are welcome to stay over night if they wish. 6.00pm start then we'll fire up the barby so please bring a plate of food to share. Reply email me or PM Calixta on the ACG forum for address details. This is a relaxed no theme costumed event, to kick back, reflect on the year and be festive!
