International Women's Day Fun Run 2010 (Fun Run - - - - as in we walk taking in the sunshine and admire the scenic city parklands around us)

Date Sunday, 7 March a 7am race start. (meet at 6.30am)

It is the same loop as last year, a 5km scenic looped course starting and finishing at South Bank.

Last year we were magnificent in 1859 splendor and attracted a lot of attention and many a photo oppertunity but we thought this year to be a little bit cooler and going for comfort , in 1950s poodle skirts.

We require a team of four, though we can have more than one team or register individually and join the team in the walk. There are prizes for the race itself but also for Best Dressed. Last year we were unable to be considered for this category because we did not register on the day as we were running late.

For the next 10 days they are having an early bird registration of $82 (team after January 21st $102) and $27 (individual after January 21st $32). Could those that are interested in particpating in 'costume wearing matching or co-ordinating 1950s Poodle skirts' please register your interest below.

As this is a short window, I am happy to register the team and have team members re-emberse me! ($20.50 per person)

I propose the female costume as follows;
White shirt, 1950s petticoat (your colour choice - can be made from net or any material you like to poof our the skirt), pink spot poodle skirt, pink chiffon scarf (worn anyway you choose - in hair, around neck) and of course your bobby socks and running shoes. I am going to find cats eye sunglasses as well if anyone would also like to that is completly up to you.

I propose for the those interested men as follows;
jeans or black pants, white shirt and a kerchief made from the ladies skirt material. I think it is still too hot to wear a jacket but if the interested men have a better idea please do share it! I would just like to tie into the ladies with the above mentioned kerchief.

We had a really good time last year (Cherie, myself, Narelle, Paul and Melissa) though this year we will be much more comfortable

If we have a team, we could possibly organise a weekend workshop to make our costumes together.

So looking for a interested persons in dressing in pink poodle skirts ala 1950s. We can have more than one team, and we incouarage our male members to participate, in Greaser wear with a matching kerchif.

To enter a team I will need the following information for entry form (PM me)
  • shirt sizes
  • email address
  • postal address
So please register your interest below

Rebecca
Cherie

FYI: Since last year there was confusion, I am only looking for a team for 1950s. If you would like to wear something else in a team feel free to organise it! The more the merrier!

Well, I have recieved our tags (number to pin on to our costumes) in the mail. I will look after these and bring them on the Sunday of the fun run. I will also bring safety pins to pin them on.

I have mentioned in person to someone, that I will be bringing a Chinese parasol to provide shade for me will we walk in the sun. May I suggest that everyone be responsible for their own sun safety! I know I am carefull when I am in the sun but I burn and burn badly!
