The Penrith City Festival has come around again, and the powers that be are looking for businesses to join in the parade.
The theme this year is "Story Time".

You may or may not know that I have a Fancy dress shop in Penrith, and I have not yet joined any of the past. blush.gif
I was thinking this year I should ..(being in the fancy dress business and all) and was thinking of either doing Alice in Wonderland (perfect chance to get those new costumes made and Tim Burtons movie comes out in March) or maybe Harry Potter, the new movie is out in July. I can use my Bellatrix costume again. (There's no reason why we couldnt represent both stories)

I'm looking for people who love to dress up (funnily enough... we all do) and would like to join me in the parade. We can use the opportunity to also hand out the guild's brochures. I'm checking with friends and family for volunteers, but Wenz...perfect op for you to get that Prof Umbridge costume happening?. cool.gif Also if anyone has any tips on parades ;..this is my first time.

aiiiy, I'm very tempted ... up to the point of another new costume between now & JAFA.

A bigger drawback for me is that I'll need to see if I can afford the fabric, wig & shoes. sad.gif I may have another 3 months work from the 22nd, but it's not certain and my budget is already tight.

Thanks Wenz
Let me know what you decide.
I've been thinking about it and I have quite a few "harry potter" costumes so I think i may stick with that story. I'm hoping my friend's son and daughter will help out as I have some of these characters in kids sizes as well.
I should have further details about the parade early this week after i speak to the organiser. I do know it will be an early morning start, going on past parades.
I also thought i would find out what I could use to get some sparks happening, just to get people's attention. (I was thinking of something like a "throwdown" that will cause a puff of smoke).

Hi Lady P, I'm going to have to say I can't do it sad.gif . Late last week I was diagnosed with glandular fever, and my "get up & go" did get up and leave.

Hair still intact...just!! wink.gif

All went well. The kids in our group were great...calling out "Expelliarmus!!!"...and "one, two three...HOGWARTS!!"
We all had fun...tho it was quite a warm morning.
Photos coming very soon on my blog...not there yet, been a tad busy....

Bonus...I received a phone call on Wednesday from the organiser...our group won in the "Best Business Entrant" !!!

I worked it out that we had costumes in about 6 different floats/cars.

Our hard work paid off!!

We are now considering having a float int Christmas Parade last weekend in November.

I'm the only avid harry costume fan, unfortunately.
I'll catch up on Billywigs eventually.
