Hey everyone

I have decided to put my harder costumes on hold this year, and work on an easier costume for Avcon . I have decided on cosplaying as Maqui from Final Fantasy XIII

However I have had a hard time finding a pattern for his jacket and his pants; I did purchase 2 patterns online, I am just waiting for them to get delivered.

I ordered the following patterns:

Jacket - McCalls 5538

Pants - Burda 8316

I am not sure whether the pants will work, but I think the jacket will be fine. I am wanting to know other people's opinions on these patterns for this costume, if you could post your thoughts that would be a great help!! (If you have any other patterns to suggest that would be awesome!!)

On another note I am also wondering what materials I would use for both the jacket and the pants, does anybody have any idea what fabric's I should use and where to get them?

The headphones seem a little difficult too, I am thinking of using an old pair of wrap-around headphones and either scultping arounf them with Sculpy or making them out of foam. What are people's thought's on these idea's?

Thanks everyone for your help!! I really appreciate it!!

Those pattern links wont work for me, but anyway I think the pants look like that parachute material that was popular for a while there, are they Olive drab colour
Your suggestion for the headphones is exactly what I would be doing. Your chances of finding something close is pretty unlikely.

From the picture you have given, the pants you have chosen don't suit the picture. I would recommend snow pants instead. For the goggles in the picture, you might want to try ordinary swimming goggles with a thick headbands underneath.

Yeah I thought so too for the pants, however trying to find a pattern for snowboarding pants or something similar is really hard...I couldn't find one anywhere...

The top of the pants will be hidden by the toolbelt whatsit, and if you gather the bottom of the pants I think they could work.

Suggest to look for a cargo pants pattern which has a similar look as a snow pants. Good luck!

I have been looking around for something similar, but all of them are basically the same as the pattern I bought. I will keep looking though.

Suggest to check out some outdoor camping shops, like Anaconda, or ski shop and check out the pants. To get an idea to modify your pattern. At Anaconda, the area they sell raincoat and rainpants as well. Hope that will give you some inspirations. Shops like roxy, quicksilver may have pants like that too.

Have you thought of wearing jeans underneath and then make your own outer pants or shell pants. The jeans will support the shape of the outer pants.

Hope that help.

That sounds like a good idea, I might give that a try!

Thank you very much!

For the goggles, you could perhaps try glacier goggles. The only website I have found that has them is here.

I bought a pair for my steampunk outfit, they look good, the company was quite quick with postage.
