Hope i've got the right section but i'm searching for a costume maker in Adelaide (i'm near Golden Grove).

I'm a bit of a costume nuffy myself, i've never made clothing and don't own a sewing machine!

In August i'll be visiting a (hard core costumer) friend and attending a costume ball, We've chosen to go as these warrior chicks.
Only somewhat modified to be more Warrior Princess, less half dressed skank. hehe

The costume shouldn't be toooo difficult for someone in the know. I've contemplated having a go myself as it is more craft work than sewing but I just have no idea where to start, especially with trying to shape the collar and finishing the edges.
Leather would be nice, budget permitting, but vinyl would be ok too. I could paint the designs on myself.

Google didn't really come up with anything so i'm hoping someone here might have some suggestions on people I can contact.

You say 'skank' like it's a bad thing!

I don't know much about using leather having only used PVC cloth for my costumes as it's the cheaper and most likely easier option with a number of ways to weather it to make it look close to genuine.

With the chest armour (*juvenile giggle*) you might actually benefit from a solid piece either vacuformed or paper mached (where's yoyoydyne when you need him??) and then painted in a way to give the bumpy texture or even stretch the leather or PVC over the armour if it's solid enough.

I realise you're actually looking for someone to help make it but that's just my 2c. I'm sure there are others around here with much more helpful advice and skill.

If I go the home made route, I like the idea of creating a mould and stretching the material over the top. Would definitely solve the problem of getting the right shaping. Great idea!

Pfffft! You're no fun!

If you decide to go the DIY route then the chest armour is probably the best place to start as that may be the hardest to do and it'll set the tone for the rest of the build.

What modifications are you planning on doing to de-skank the cossie?

I would suggest a ladies hockey chest protector and decorate from there
