This year Ipswich celebrates its 150 years (Ipp 150 opposed to Q150). This year, the parade is taking the 150 years as the theme and many of the parade floats will creatively interpret Ipswich’s 150 year long history, along with horse-drawn wagons, vintage cars and much more.

The Australian Costumers’ QLD Chapter has been invited to participate with Ipswich West Special School by dressing in authentic 1850s dress. As we are under the banner of the school we will not be able to carry the ACG banner (though we can keep this in mind for next years Ipswich Festival).

As this is a long parade and taking a different route from other years, the school is joining in the parade about mid way. The school has requested that we meet them and the students in the car park behind the workers club in Bell Street (this is pretty much opposite the Ipswich train Station).

I have a most elegant solution for meeting and dressing . As I am in walking distance to the Ipswich CBD (twenty minutes tops walking) I thought we could meet at my place, dress in comfort and parade ourselves to the meeting point. How does this sound to people?

I am not sure what time I will be home (I have my uni Graduation in the morning in Toowoomba) but I thought my place at 2pm

I have plenty of parking out the back of my place (access via Lennon Lane.)


For those members that would like to join in but do not have historical dress (especially our newer interested members, please let us know as we may be able to fit you into one of our dresses!!! As Tim Gunn says, “Make it work!” And we will.

How much fun was yesterday? Thank you so much Bec for posting it on the forum and for letting us get ready at you place. Thank you Jeff for driving us to the March and thank you Cherie for being a part of the Festivities. I would also like to thank Nathan for letting Chris borrow his cane and hat. It was a lot of fun and I really needed some fun in my life atm. Thank you all.
