[QLD] Abbey Medieval Festival

This is Australia’s largest medieval event, a magical spectacle of colour, pageantry, music and chivalrous combat. There is jousting and archery, sword combats and melees, medieval markets and dance.
The Medieval Festival raises funds for the priceless collections of the Abbey Museum. Last year, about 15,000 people attended the weekend Tournament and helped fund the development of our new permanent home.
At long last the grass is growing on the new site and we look forward to an exciting new epoch.
Yay it is getting closer to Abbey Medieval Festival!!!!
Heads up that April 30th is the last day for early Bird tickets (sorry I didn't realise it was so soon).
I know that there is a group of us going both days and the Banquet (held the week before).
Let's get some active discussion going!!!
We will make firmer plans about our picnic lunch at the meetings (fantastic chance to meet-up with all the out of staters and on-line memebers), but more importantly, WHAT ARE WE WEARING!!!!!!
I am re-wearing my Blue Tudor from last year, making some more embellishments for the neckline! The other day I am wearing 13th century Mi parti ....me loveth thisth lookith.........
Still no clue on the banquet yet, but the clogs are always turning!

SORRY! Couldn't resist...
I'm wearing shiny new green velvet dress and shiny new red tudor... the latter depending on whether I get it done.
As for the banquet? Probably shiny new green velvet dress with brown linen robes!

I shall be wearing 1480 Italy, more specifically Florence but there is one venetian dress because I wanted to be daring. I shall have my spiffy gold and blue number done intime and if you don't take many photos of it in the parade I shall disown you because it WILL be spectacular, the gold thread for the embroidery arrived the other day..

......................and now panic kicks in as I sew my kirtle!
Abbey Museum website has a map of the camp layout and a time table for Saturday and Sunday! So have a look and check out the new camp layout!
Be a good idea to have a look at what you want to see, we will organise a time to meet up for lunch next Saturday (the day of the Banquet!) so if you cannot make it, please advise what time would suit you! That way we can make a good time for everyone!
Remember that the joust is a extra paid event, pay for your tockens inside the fair! I would recommend seating....did that last year and it was fantastic!

I think I'm looking forward to it. If you're with me when I'm wearing my tudor, beware, I may hurt general members of the public that feel they need to tell me the colour of my gown is not accurate.
Then I'll run around saying that as the favourite mistress of King Henri of France, I'll have them beheaded..

Make sure while we are busy sewing, do not let your feline friend come close to your sewing area. Threads, needles and pins are very dangerous.
