Welcome to the 21st Abbey Medieval Tournament on Saturday, 10th July and Sunday, 11th July 2010.

This is Australia’s largest medieval event, a magical spectacle of colour, pageantry, music and chivalrous combat. There is jousting and archery, sword combats and melees, medieval markets and dance.

The Medieval Festival raises funds for the priceless collections of the Abbey Museum. Last year, about 15,000 people attended the weekend Tournament and helped fund the development of our new permanent home.

At long last the grass is growing on the new site and we look forward to an exciting new epoch.

Yay it is getting closer to Abbey Medieval Festival!!!!

Heads up that April 30th is the last day for early Bird tickets (sorry I didn't realise it was so soon).

I know that there is a group of us going both days and the Banquet (held the week before).

Let's get some active discussion going!!!

We will make firmer plans about our picnic lunch at the meetings (fantastic chance to meet-up with all the out of staters and on-line memebers), but more importantly, WHAT ARE WE WEARING!!!!!!

I am re-wearing my Blue Tudor from last year, making some more embellishments for the neckline! The other day I am wearing 13th century Mi parti ....me loveth thisth lookith.........

Still no clue on the banquet yet, but the clogs are always turning!

your clogs are turning? -snickers at the thought of wooden shoes turning in rebecca's head-

SORRY! Couldn't resist...

I'm wearing shiny new green velvet dress and shiny new red tudor... the latter depending on whether I get it done.

As for the banquet? Probably shiny new green velvet dress with brown linen robes!

I shall be there from the thursday through to the monday with my reenactment group. I hope my friends in the ACG can make time to visit me in 1480! hehe.
I shall be wearing 1480 Italy, more specifically Florence but there is one venetian dress because I wanted to be daring. I shall have my spiffy gold and blue number done intime and if you don't take many photos of it in the parade I shall disown you because it WILL be spectacular, the gold thread for the embroidery arrived the other day..

Are all you all vexed with such merriment and mirth because of the Abby Festivities approaching? Of Course you are. Remember to cheer on Sir Bryant as he clashes in chivillerous combat. Keep your fingers out of the way this year Bryan. Jane keep away from the mead. And don't drink the home made wine. (sniker, sniker) I'm sure it's going to be a great weekend for all and I want to see many many pics, especially the spiffy gold and blue number. Sounds devine.

Cheers.

I'd love to be a part of it as I absolutely loved it last year, but I need to devote myself to my studies and get assessment out of the way. Don't worry, I'll be around. I'll be like the Phantom. Muahahahahaha!

Change of plan. Chris and I will be there for the Abby Festivities! I've been so bogged down in study that Chris said that I needed to get out and start creating again. So now....What to wear??????

15 DAYS UNTIL THE FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

......................and now panic kicks in as I sew my kirtle!

Abbey Museum website has a map of the camp layout and a time table for Saturday and Sunday! So have a look and check out the new camp layout!

Be a good idea to have a look at what you want to see, we will organise a time to meet up for lunch next Saturday (the day of the Banquet!) so if you cannot make it, please advise what time would suit you! That way we can make a good time for everyone!

Remember that the joust is a extra paid event, pay for your tockens inside the fair! I would recommend seating....did that last year and it was fantastic!

shoosh! stop telling me I only have 15 days until I have to have my tudor finished. which is barely started. grr!

I think I'm looking forward to it. If you're with me when I'm wearing my tudor, beware, I may hurt general members of the public that feel they need to tell me the colour of my gown is not accurate. smile.gif

Then I'll run around saying that as the favourite mistress of King Henri of France, I'll have them beheaded.. biggrin.gif

My mum's cat swallowed a sewing needle on Saturday. Long story short, quick trip to the vet, x-ray done, needle in her stomach, operation done, needle taken out. The cat is resting now at the vet, should be home on Monday.

Make sure while we are busy sewing, do not let your feline friend come close to your sewing area. Threads, needles and pins are very dangerous.

I am not able to go to the banquit any more due to health reasons. so I have a free ticket, that is currently in Narelle's posesson. As I dont want to let the ticket go to waste, If any body wants a free ticket to use they are welcome to it. Just let me know.
