Valentino Exhibition Brisbane
Saturday, 7 August 2010 to Sunday, 7 November 2010
Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane

‘Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future’ a major exhibition dedicated to the career of celebrated Italian couturier Valentino Garavani. Exclusive to Brisbane, the exhibition will feature a stunning array of haute couture designs tracing Valentino’s career from the 1959 opening of his fashion house in Rome through to the presentation of his final collection in January 2008, as well as recent designs from the house of Valentino.

‘Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future’ will be complemented by an exhibition for children featuring work from the Gallery’s collection exploring the relationship between fashion and art.

I'm thinking I'd like a little bit of Italian Fashion to see? We should recreate the costumes from NINE. Dibs on the Kate Hudson silver dress. lol

Sounds great, we'll have to work out a time to go see.

Thanks Antonia for the heads up!

I was in JB's the other day and saw the doco of Valentino for sale. It followed him for 2 years and I nearly bought it. Has anyone seen it and is it good?

I'd really like to go and see Valentino and Largerfeld films. Sorry but what is GOMA?

I went to the exhibiton yesterday and was very crowded, even at the Bristro. With school holiday coming up, it will be more crowded in the next 2 weeks. I will go to the free fashion movies at the gallery of Modern Art on 2nd Oct Saturday. Anyone would like to go:

1pm is Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton 2007 (82 mins)
3pm Valentino: the last Emperor 2008 (96 mins)

(ps: I like the dress he made for Cate Blanchett to go to the Oscar, that gave me an inspiration for my next Regency dress. There are a group of red dresses, awesome. Cherie, for sure they are your favourite.)

(PS:I just found out Friday 1st Oct at Gallery of Modern Art, free fashion movie at 7pm:

Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld 2009 (52 mins)

Wonder if we can have the Oct meeting in the area of southbank and then go to the movie????
