Hey all,

I'm working on an Atlantis uniform finally.... I've made a start, by buying these shoes:

I had a horrible time even finding something that looked remotely similar. As it is, these are from the men's section of Target, and they are size 6, so they about a size too big, but they don't look too oversized. They are grey at least, so that's okay. I'm going to go over the red parts with a black permanent marker. The real boots they used are hard to find and very very expensive.. and these were only $40! smile.gif They will do, unless I can get my hands on a pair of Merrell Eagle III's.

I didn't forget about this thread, I swear! I've just been busy. lol I had meant to post my progress, but I made it in a rush and ran out of time.

I stumbled across some even better boots, which sucks because I had already painted over the red on the other shoes with black texta, so I can't return them....

I found these instead, which I am really happy with:

I got them from a disposal store that just opened up in the city for only $29! They are really comfortable.

For my pants, I altered the heck out of an existing pattern and added the extra topstitching. The jacket was my jedi tunic pattern altered so much that it doesn't resemble it anymore, and it wasn't as tricky as I thought it would be, but after this, I much prefer the fitted style of jacket that Dr Weir has, and I will make one like that next time.

I made mine based on this:

Although I discovered a number of variations between jacket and pant styles.

Next time, I'll try to tackle this style of jacket:

Anyone wanna do a wraith costume? wink.gif

It's the wig tongue.gif I *love* bright red hair tongue.gif

But yeah, the prosthetics and make-up would take forever! If I did do it, it owuld have to be a friday night costume unfortunately. Coz I will probably be needing to do 2 costumes each day (I have so many I want to do tongue.gif) and the make-up would be hell to remove! But if you're still interested, definately! biggrin.gif

I bought a copy of a TV Zone (UK import) magazine simply cos it had a great photo of one of Claudia Black's costumes. Do you think I can remember her character's name :sigh:

Keeping reference material for possible costumes is going to be a storage problem, I can see that already.

Q_C aka Mel - I don't think there is a specific event, or at least not at this point. Maybe in the not too distant future. Supanova comes in really useful, cos they're not genre or program/film specific.

I made mine for the last Terra Nova convention because Rachel Luttrell was a guest. I would probably wear it again if there was another stargate atlantis themed convention.

Sorry about just jumping in here and asking this in my first post, but would you be willing to share the pattern for your jacket? Very nice work too, by the way.

Hey Rebel! It's great to see you found your way here! smile.gif

Unfortunately, I don't have a pattern for it. Some parts were based on a pattern base, and some parts were drafted as I went or adjusted on me. So, there isn't really a pattern that exists as such.

I haven't looked at mens patterns that might be similar, but that would be a good place to start.

http://www.sg-command.net have some great message boards where they discuss all kinds of stargate costumes. I haven't visited recently, but maybe there is something useful there.

I am happy to help in any way I can. If you can find a jacket pattern that is similar, you can use it as a starting point and then see how you can alter it to be more accurate.

TV Zone have a Stargate special issue out, and I just had to buy it. It's got some great photos .. including Morena Baccarin's. Not that I have her figure :heavy sigh: Thought it was worth the 5c change from a $20.
