I am in the process of making an emergency costume for the xmas party/Kens birthday
The majority of it i am getting made foor me because of time restraints but im worried about the cost of the head dress so im thinking about making it myself,
Ive never made anything like it b4 so i thought id share my ideas firts and see if anyone has any suggestions for me.

What im considering is ordering in a brown beanie with the ears already sew in to it,
And cutting out some white and brown fake fur and sewing it into the beanie
For me this is gonna be pretty complicated,
and im a bit worried about the weight,
Im not making it full size,
im thinking about having the white fur at about my shoulder blades

if u have any ideas please share them!
Im still only new to costuming so i still have a long way to go yet laugh.gif

Hmm.... i need to borrow a sewing machine too,
this seems a bit big to hand sew.

ahhh kawaii ne!! What a great idea. Little baby ryo-oki. (I've been contemplating methods to make the bigger voluptuous furry ryo-oki)

caa-rrot! meow meow!

Ok... are you going to do a furry face or face-paint?

Could you perhaps get a plastic mask and cover that with fur? Maybe even make anime eyes in it... hmmm

Beanie would be fairly easy to make if you were so inclined, as would the ears. You can use my medieval rus hat pattern from my website as a base for the hat part. Its a very easy pattern.

I would do the fur hair at least to around the elbow to get the effect, but then that is me. I don't really know how making a wig out of fur would go though. Would you need some stuffing? I can't find any pictures of people who have done it before to comment on making it like that. Perhpas some others have ideas smile.gif

Actually... cancel the beanie idea... I just found something that I think will help you immensely.

I googled for "making wig from faux fur" so you might find more, but as a guide this is very good.

Awesome that looks cool,
yeah i want to make it really long to,
but i have been looking up other people who have made this costume
and they all complain about the weight of it.
I am also considering stuffing the frount *Bangs*
As i said though im still learning and ive only got a month and a bit to do it in...

A normal Ryo-ohki would be awesome to,
she is on my cosplay list as well

As far as the face goes,
im still unsure at the moment,
a mask would eventually get really irritating
but face paint would come off...
so im still considering my options tongue.gif

I want to get some brown velvet pants,
and some pink boots for it aswell

I just keep getting this mental image of me singing the "meow-Meow" song

Check out www.cosplaylab.com for all cosplay pictures,
ive got heaps of ideas from there.

Awesome. I would love to see how it turned out. Maybe get some ideas for my own projects. You should write up what you did!

Some Photos laugh.gif

The back bangs go about halfway down my back,
and you cant tell but the top 2 white sections are stuffed as well,
ive done all the short brown hair on the back indivigually and therte IS a red jewel on the front!
(the camera didnt pick it up)
This was all done by hand and took about 2 days in total
(just sewing bits and pieces at a time)
Tapestry needles are the only needles i could use on this
i think i snapped one or 2 needles in the process of making it,
very irratating!
and be carefully when pinning the template on to the fur!
sevral times i had shot a pin straight into my thumb!

A big thanx 2 kaname-nakajima for all the white fur,

i couldnt of done it without you!

Wow! That is looking pretty cool. I'm amazed at your use of tapestry needles. Perhaps an upholstery needle could help? They're quite thick and sharp too, I think you'd have a hard time snapping one.
