Has anyone seen the movie yet? Since I had a look at the website I must see this film! It looks amazing.

The creature effects look to be the best yet. There are some stunning costumes. And while I've been told there is some severe graphic violence through some of it I have also been told it is a must see film.

Have a look at the website and the trailers and comic-con panel.

I haven't seen it advertised at all, but I think the website really speaks for itself... in fact I still have the website open looking through it during my breaks.

It's the torture that has me standing back going "hmmm will I, won't I. Maybe the dvd" If I didn't know about it I'd just go see it. A friend thought there wouldn't be graphic violence cos it's on during the school holidays - I don't see it the same way!

It might be on during the school holidays, but that doesn't mean there are only kids movies on in the cinema.

yes indeedy, that was my take on it too. Just cos a film is animated (or in this case fantasy) doesn't mean it's a kids movie (thinking of Renaissance, Sin City, a Scanner Darkly).

Or 50% of anime... check the ratings people!! Pans Labyrinth is rated R for Restricted (over 17 years of age) according to their website.

You know what? Just after I wrote my reply above, I went and watched a recording of a show on the sci-fi channel, and they showed the trailer. Very nice wink.gif

My friend at work saw this and highly recommended it. He said there were a few horrific bits, but they were very short. I'm definately going to see this! biggrin.gif

It says it's a fairytale for adults, and it's rated R. But I really want to see it! I can go see it with a parent or adult though so that's good. happy.gif I'll just have to cover my eyes at all the horrific bits. unsure.gif

I might have to hide too... I haven't watched many R rated films. I was surprised to find out it had that rating.

It doesn't seem to be on at the Hoyts cinema's in SA. I have heard though that it is on in one of the city cinemas. Would anyone like to do an excursion to see it after work or something?

Let me know when you're not working and can go. Would you be able to come in to the city? I know marion is closer for you though.

It's a fantastic movie! I saw it about a week ago and loved it. Though be prepared for some very brutally gory scenes. I wasn't expecting them and still loved the movie but apparently it's made some people not so well.

But really, it's one of those movies I've been waiting for my whole life. It's very well worth it.

I agree Kimi. The brutal scenes were quite brief really and I feel they added to the realism of the film. It's an outstanding movie with a fantastic storyline and oh the creature effects!! wow!

Well worth reading the subtitles.

I would see it again!

Attached File  Guillermo_del_Toro.jpg   5.75K   2 downloadsi looked at the trailer yesterday and totally loved that. im sure i will love the movie too, also i looked up the director Guillermo del Toro on imdb.com (international movie data base) to see what other movies he has done, hes done cronos, mimic, the devil's backbone, hellboy, hellboy2 (out soon) and blade 2. and some other spainish movies as well. i remember seeing mimic some years ago.
anyway if you like his stuff these might be worth looking into - ps cronos has a few diff versions from what i saw. it seems the 1993 version is the one made by Guillermo del Toro
