I've looking to find a hardware store that stocks Wonderflex in australia or something similar.

Wonderflex is a thermoplastic that is non toxic and doesn't need any heavy (and expensive) equipment to mold but and shape. The strongest item you will need is a heat gun (aka paint stripping gun) and can even been used with hot water (around 75 - 80 degrees).

I've done work in fibreglass (which can be dangerous to your lungs) or perspex which isn't as easy to work with.

I've only found two places that sell this item online and one doesn;t seem to want to ship here, so any help would be much appreciated!

Reactor Drone uses styrene, and can source that fairly easily from a local supplier. There would have to be somewhere local to you that would sell it as well.

Have your tried http://www.barnes.com.au/ ? They have an amazing range of stuff, and if they don't have they well be able to tell you where else to try.
You can shop on-line, or they have an outlet in NSW.

Hi,
I am after some 'wonderflex' or 'friendly plastic' as well.
I have tried http://www.solidsolutions.com.au/search.php
and Barnes as well. Online, there is it not in the product listing. Does anyone else know where it could be found in Australia?
Kat

I remember stuff that became pliable using hot water. About 4mm thick & could be cut with scissors when still soft. The South Brisbane Mater Hospital physio unit used it to cut/shape braces for my hand after it was reconstructed. Imagine you might find supplies at chemists or they might tell you the supplier to contact direct, see if bulk/large size purchases are possible .....

will check it out.... hmmm.... I have been looking for something like this (and non-toxic, having a little one around) for some time now....
will see if this will do the trick.

sounds like what I am searching for...
no luck so far.
anyone in Queensland able to find out more about this one?
would greatly appreciate it...
will keep looking...
Have found something called Aquaplast T... but no luck finding out where to get it as yet. Most of it seems to be perforated.

I had a look at cosplay. Looks like it is expensive to ship. How did you find the costings? and how heavy is it? I am trying to work out if it is worth shipping from the US.
ALso was there any problems with customs?
(I have found a place in Melbourne that sells aquaplast (the T is non-stick). Looks similar to Wonderflex... not sure though...

did some phoning today.
As expected, medical supplies are not cheap.
http://www.sportstek.net/aquaplast.html
the largest sheet is $151.25 - 2 sheets posted to Adelaide metro... about $10 post.
I checked out Cosplay. Their sheets appear to be larger and possibly cheaper, maybe even with postage. I have sent an email about the weights so I can work out postage. Looks like your option might be cheaper, MachV.
The friendly plastic seems to be easily available from Joycar here in Adelaide.

I was the one who ordered it in for MachV because I myself was ordering a lot.

Postage isnt that cheap, but its definately worth it. I think I got 3 large sheets and they came rolled up in a just under 5ft tall box. If you place an order on the website you can find out the postage to your area (although you don't have to go through with the order, its just how they work out postage costs).

I also bought some friendlyplastic. That stuff is godly. If anyone ever needs any tips on using it poke me because I've come up with some good tricks.

I got an email from the Wonderflex suppliers in Australia. Apparently they're trying to approach people in the cosplay community, so feel free to spread it around:

It is available in two sizes full sheet 1.1 M x 1.4M at $99.50 including GST or ½ sheet at $60.50 including GST, plus postage.
