I have finally decided that for my first project I am going to make a Cleopatra inspired outfit. It will have authentic elements but not strictly historical. However, the one feature I do want to use is the see through/sheer bust area. I would like to achieve the effect without actually flashing my nipples all over the place. I was thinking of maybe a nude fabric underneath, so that it looks like I am naked underneath while still kepping my modesty intact.

Any other suggestions?

Yep, a flesh-toned fabric underneath sounds the most workable (the trick will be to get the best match to your own skin colour ). Or depending on the costruction of the garment, making an undergarment of the flesh-toned fabric instead.

Though I have seen (and I can't remember where) a sort of flesh coloured 'pastie' that just covers the nipple - possibly something in latex would work? - so you'd see breast skin and cleavage but no nipple, and then no-one is ever really sure.... smile.gif

I think the flesh coloured undergarment/fabric is probably the best way to go, but another option could be to add trimmings/embellishment of some kind on the fabric over those bits you want to have covered wink.gif

But that may not go with the look you are trying to create?

Do you have any concept images or ideas that you are working from? The style can vary a bit so it would be good to know what look you are trying to achieve. smile.gif
