Hey all... this is my first post... so be gentle.
Great looking forum though, I love seeing every else's pictures!
Good stuff!

Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of my Hagrid costume. I've made the whole thing from scratch, including the boots and wig and beard! I made it to wear to our Halloween party this year. I also wore it to the 7th book release (which I've not read yet so SHHH!!!) in Lubbock, Texas... happened to be there for a friend's wedding.

Here's a picture of my beard "in progress".

To make the beard I got a "scarf kit" and tied it around my lifecast then threaded a "hairy" looking black yarn through the loops one at a time and tied them off in knots. The wig I did the same way.

The shoes are made of stacks of heavy duty wall insulation all secured together and shaped. Then I added real shoes to the top of it (so my feet had something to "strap into") and covered the whole thing with actual leather. They're extremely light weight and easy to walk in even though they're HUGE! They make me over 7 feet tall.

I think I'm going to get a "Santa Claus stomach" before our party... just so as not to appear so tall and thin.

Finally... here I am as Hagrid!
What do you think?

Notice how small all the "normal" people look! smile.gif

Tha's fantastic, well done! And what a brilliant idea for the beard, I'm definately going to have to try that.

If only I'd invented them, such as the wheel
The washing machine and the tumble dryer
On these inventions surely I could retire
