Need a few tips on Guro Lolita, since I am very interested in trying it out. I already know a little about it, but I could use more tips.

Description from the Lolita Handbook:
This style also goes by "grotesque lolita" or "injured lolita". Any style of loli clothing will work for this because it's all about what you add to it (though it is more often seen on punk or goth lolis). Eyepatches, blood stains, fake bruises, bandages, and even slings give you that "broken dolly" look. This style can either look scary and gruesome or cute and all please-fix-me. Just don't overdo it, because you can quickly start looking like something out of a Marilyn Manson video happy.gif;; Most of these examples are actually art because it's not a common style.

I personally think the Shiro Lolita is a good base as it contrasts nicely with the blood stains (which definitely shouldn't be overdone).

Red/pink crosses look nice with this style, especially on a lacy nurse's hat, eyepatch (which is a must) and somewhere on the skirt.

Hearts also fit nicely with the style if you're into that.

I find fake bruises ruin the doll image and bandages should be kept to a minimum. Hair is generally put up in pigtails.

i personally dont like how it looks nurse-ish...i find that by looking nurse-ish kinda fetishizes it, and i don't like that...hmm...but then that's just me...^^;;
aaanyway, i've seen a few pics where loli girls make fake knee injuries, which is kinda cute, coz it looks like they're the clumsy sort and fell down too much...XD smudging the lipstick onto one side also looks good!

a little off-topic..it's funny how u brought up the guro thing...coz in japan, apparently bandages and the injured look is hot at akihabara now, with the girls in maid cafes decorating themselves with bandages and stuff like that other than their usual maid outfits.

I'm not too fond on the guro style either... I've got a friend who's into guro (not just the lolita form), I've seen enough to last me a lifetime.

Could we blame Kobushi Abiru for bringing back the injured look? I thought that fad was over a couple of years ago.

Glad someone bought this up.... I'm of half-a-mind to make a guro lolita for Halloween. It's either that or a lolita styled vampire.....

I really love the whole broken doll look, but not to a fetish degree (I find Trevor Brown's artwork to be very, very inappropriate as far as stable human decency is concerned).

I like it when it's done well in a creepy but cute way, but also when it's just to a minimal degree with a bandage cross on the knee or that kind of thing. I think it's really easy to go way too overboard with guro loli so that it just looks tacky. A simple eyepatch can be all the addition you need to have a good effect.

Thats a great idea. I have a dress up party just before halloween for Ali's 21st and I might guro up something lolita for that.

I prefer a "broken doll" look too. Eye bandage, maybe arm in a sling or bandaids on the knees, but nothing too overboard.
